What we do

RP Hutchins provides a full, fast, and efficient breakdown and repair service, with an up to 95% first-time fix rate on all Rational ovens. As chosen Rational Service Partners for the south-west, we carry out after-sales services for all customers on behalf of Rational.

We carry 95% of stock for all SCC, WE and SI models on our vans and we operate to a 95% fix rate for all breakdowns and repairs on your first call out. We’re also able to manage any warranty issues on behalf of Rational within the first 2 years of buying your appliance.

Even if your warranty period has expired, all parts fitted by our engineers carry a 1-year Parts and Labour warranty. And we’ll set you up on one of our service maintenance contracts to make sure your oven runs efficiently.

Our experienced engineers work only on Rational ovens, so we get an in-depth insight into their operation and any faults that can develop. This helps them diagnose and repair faults quickly and effectively, keeping any downtime on your appliance to a minimum.

Who we are

RP Hutchins Ltd has been trading in various forms since 1963. Servicing Rational ovens since 1986, we became full Rational Service Partners in 1990. In 2013, Director, Ray Hutchins, began trading as a limited company.

In January 2016, Frima (who developed Multificiency® cooking appliances) also approached us to become their south-west Service Partner. Since then, Frima has come under the Rational brand name, but we continue to service, repair, and maintain Frima appliances.

Our team

Ray Hutchins | Director

With a background in commercial catering, Ray has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the industry. Given extensive training on Rational ovens in 1986 at Rational HQ in Germany, he became a full Rational Service Partner in 1990.

Shaun Daymond | Chief Engineer

Shaun has over five years’ experience working on Rational ovens. He joined us in 2013 with an extensive background in plumbing and gas and is Gas Safe registered.

Chris Hutchins | Service Engineer

Chris joined us in 2016 with a Business & Management degree, an NVQ in Plumbing, and full Gas Safe Registration. He has over two years’ experience with us working on Rational Ovens.

Our development

As Service Partners, we’re required to complete service training at the Rational UK Headquarters in Luton every year. We’re given access to the latest technician software and briefed on the most recent Rational technical documentation to keep us up to date.

A Rational Service Manager also visits our premises once a year to carry out a full audit, ensuring our business model and services continue to align with theirs. This guarantees the best service, maintenance and repairs for customers who rely on their Rational products.
